Korea Hot Springs, Resorts and Temple Experiences: Beyond Seoul by Private Van
Korea's hot spring and resort towns are an easy van ride from Seoul. In Chungcheongnam-do, soak at the Deoksan hot spring resort, visit Sudeoksa — a mountain temple whose main hall dates to 1308 — where you can write a wish on a roof tile or hang a lotus lantern, and pick up Cheonan's famous walnut cakes on the way. In Gangwon-do, stay at a mountain resort such as Welli Hilli Park and feast on Hoengseong Hanwoo beef.

Common questions
What is writing a wish on a roof tile?
+
Many Korean temples invite visitors to write a wish or a family's names on a roof tile with a small donation; the tiles are later used on temple buildings. Lotus lanterns are hung for the same reason, especially around Buddha's Birthday in spring.
Do Korean hot springs require nudity?
+
Traditional bathhouses are separated by gender and unclothed, but resort spas and water parks are mixed and require swimwear. We'll tell you which type each stop is.
Can we stay at the Jecheon forest resort?
+
Overnight stays there are mainly for members, so we check availability for your dates and suggest nearby alternatives if needed.
